A historic journey to the Château de Montpoupon

Château de Montpoupon has not been spared the troubles of French history: destroyed during the Hundred Years’ War, it was rebuilt during the Renaissance. These remnants are preserved in the castle grounds, with their variety of period rooms that provide a real journey back in time. Notably, there’s a royal chamber that is said to have housed King François 1ᵉʳ in his day. A journey into the past that can be felt even more thanks to the theatrical guided tours, a stroll around the site punctuated by reproductions with actors and available regularly throughout the summer. More focused onequine history, the museum offers an exploration around the history of hunting with hounds, including a room around the famous Hermès brand.

For more greenery, the park offers a pleasant forest walk to discover the fauna and flora of the department, while offering a unique view of the Montpoupon estate. More unusual, the Meurtre au Château (Murder in the Castle) evenings offer detectives for a day a fascinating investigation in the bowels of the castle! A visit to Château de Montpoupon is an absolute must when camping in Loir-Et-Cher.
