Why visit the Beauval zoo?

From our campsite to Beauval zoo

ZooParc de Beauval is a beautiful French zoological park created in 1980. It is located in Saint-Aignan, in the department of Loir-et-Cher, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. It covers an area of 4 hectares and is home to almost 3,000 different types of animal. The Beauval Zoo is located around 30kms (about thirty minutes by car) from our campsite. So it’s easy and convenient to get there from our Beauval Zoo campsite.

What to do at Beauval Zoo

On a number of occasions, the park has been fortunate enough to be able to find and introduce species that were still unknown to the French. This aspect has helped Beauval to gain in notoriety and development. As mentioned above, you’ll have the chance to see rare animals such as white tigers, white lions, okapi, manatees, Indian rhinos, giant pandas, koalas, Goodfellow’s dendrolagas and Tasmanian devils. In fact, it was within the walls of this park that the giant panda was able to be reproduced.

Beauval also has four greenhouses and three plains. The greenhouses feature other, more common categories of animals. These include great apes, sloths, reptiles, birds, manatees and Australasian animals. On the plains, you’ll find the herbivores of the African savannah, African elephants and Asian herbivores. You’re likely to come across giraffes, wildebeests, antelopes, Indian rhinoceroses, Malaysian tapirs and antelopes.

The Beauval Zoo is also full of shows, entertainment and other entertaining activities. The best part is that these shows are performed by animals such as birds and sea lions. And don’t forget to visit Beauval’s high buildings, gardens, hamlets and pagodas.

Special areas at Beauval Zoo

You should also be aware that some very special areas have been created here. First of all, there’s the Equatorial Dome, where you’ll discover a whole world. You’ll feel like you’re on a stopover in the equator, as the animals you’ll meet there are in their natural habitat. In other words, for each of them, a space very similar to their jungle habitat has been created. This gives you the opportunity to observe these animals acting as naturally as possible, without risking your life.

The Land of Lions, as its name suggests, is a place where lions live. It’s a highly successful reproduction of the savannah. For your pleasure, everything is arranged so that mole rats, meerkats and lions feel at home. If you want to experience the power of a lion’s roar, you should visit at sunset. You’ll be blown away.

The Heights of China are home to giant pandas. Chinese buildings and vast green spaces will take you on a tour of China without you having to set foot there. You’ll also find other animals such as Takins and Steller eagles, also native to China. The Hippopotamus Reserve is an immersive experience in the hippo pool.
