Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, Château de Beauregard has stood in the middle of its park since the Renaissance.

François I acquired Château de Beauregard, built at the end of the 15th century, as a hunting lodge. In 1543, Jean du Thiers, Henri II’s Secretary of State, purchased the château and began extension work. These were continued by his successor, Paul Ardier. The château has been listed as a historic monument since 1840.

Beauregard is a Loire château best known for its Galerie des Illustres, an impressive collection of portraits of French and European political figures from the early 17th century. Also worth seeing is the Cabinet des Grelots, a panelled room featuring Renaissance paintings. Other highlights include the 16th-century kitchen and the Portrait Garden.

Located around 15 kilometers away, La Grande Tortue, the Loire Valley castles campsite, is the perfect stopover in the region.
