Château du Clos Lucé, Amboise

The Clos Lucé residence, formerly known as the Manoir du Cloux, was built in the XVᵉ century. It has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1862. Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, in downtown Amboise, it is notably famous for having hosted Leonardo da Vinci for three years. Invited to France by François I in 1516, the artist worked for the king as an architect and engineer.

It was here that the famous Italian produced his works of art and inventions, until his death in 1519.

Today, the Château du Clos Lucé is open to visitors wishing to discover not only the world of the Italian painter, but also the history of the building that housed him for the last three years of his life.
